Miami family to endow scholarships at Ole Miss

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A Florida couple will endow five leadership scholarships at the University of Mississippi, adding to the school's selection of merit scholarships.

Venture capitalist Roe Stamps and his wife Penny will cover half the cost of 5 scholarships each year beginning in fall 2013.

5 animals dead after 2 dogs break into LR zoo

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Little Rock Zoo says two dogs burrowed under a fence and killed five animals in the children's farm area overnight.

Gut-busting food, rides, apes set for Ark. fair

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas State Fair is offering new rides and fat-laden food that's easier to carry, along with entertainment that ranges from country music to performing baboons.

The fair opens Friday in Little Rock and runs through Oct. 21, with daily admission of $8 for adults

UTICA, Ohio (AP) -

An Ohio ice cream maker is voluntarily recalling some of its peanut-butter flavored products because of suspected salmonella contamination.

Velvet Ice Cream said Thursday that some of the peanut products bought from Sunland Inc. for use in the ice cream flavors could be contaminated.
