Meridian man charged in death of cousin

MERIDIAN, Miss. (AP) - Meridian police have charged Rondarius Phillips with manslaughter in the shooting death of his cousin.

$20M expansion for Walton Arts Center in NW Ark.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The board of the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville has endorsed a $20 million expansion to the theater complex on Dickson Street.

Mental evaluation ordered for man in woman's death

FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - An Oklahoma judge has ordered a mental evaluation for 1 of 2 brothers charged in the murder of a Fort Smith woman.

A judge in Leflore County on Tuesday ordered the evaluation for Elvis Thacker, who is charged with first-degree murder with his brother Jonathen Thacker.

LR airport to explore wait times for security

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport is embarking on a program to study the time it takes passengers to go through security.

The airport says the test program will be in place for 60 days.

The system will use Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices to test how long it takes passengers to go through a full security screening.

NE Arkansas soybean harvest under way

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - The soybean harvest is under way in northeast Arkansas, and agriculture officials say yields may rival a record set in 2004.

Officials say the 2012 harvest may yield 39 bushels of soybeans per acre, as did the 2004 crop.

University of Arkansas Soybean Agronomist Jeremy Ross said he has been seeing good yields across the state.
