I do not want my player
to dock on my desktop:
- Click on the change settings button on
the bottom right of your player
- In the General Properties unselect the
"Allow Docking" box.
I downloaded the player, but I have no
sound:
- Check to make sure you have a soundcard
installed on your computer.
- Check your speakers to make sure they
are connected and
turned on.
- Make sure you are connected to the
Internet.
- Make sure the mute symbol is not
showing on the sound button.
- Raise the volume slider on your player
until you can hear audio.
- I am an AOL user and I downloaded the
player; however, it
says "OFF". How do I turn it on? Click on the "Change Settings"
button on the bottom right of your player. Go to the "Proxy" tab and check
the box "Use Proxy". In the "Proxy Host" box type "ie3.proxy.aol.com".
In the "Proxy Port" box type "80", then click "Apply". Go to the
"General Properties" tab and make sure the box stating "Use TCP" is still
checked.
My player is too large for my screen:
- Right click on your desktop.
- Select Properties. Click on the
Settings button.
- Choose the best screen size for your
computer, then click OK.
When I click on the SurferNETWORK icon,
it says "No TCP connection:"
- Connect to your Internet Service
Provider.
- Once you are connected, double click on
the SurferNETWORK icon.
- Check your player settings and make
sure that the proxy box
is not checked.
What do the Dial-up and High Speed
buttons mean:
- These buttons refer to the rate that
music and graphics are sent to your player.
- If you have a 56k or 28.8k modem,
select the Dial-up button for best results.
- If you have an ISDN, Cable, DSL, or T1
connection, select the
High Speed button.
Why does my sound keep cutting out:
- You selected the high speed button but
are connected at a lower rate. Select the dial-up button.
- You are performing a task on your
computer that requires a
large amount of CPU processing. [Examples include: printing,
saving large files, or downloading from the internet.]
- Your local connection speed is slower
than what is required to operate the player.
Sometimes my player goes blank with no
colors or text:
- This occurs if you have a shortage of
system memory. Closing one or more applications usually solves this
problem.
- Check your system resources. Adding
more RAM may improve the performance.
How do I update my player:
- Click on the change settings button on
the bottom right of your player. In the Updates tab change the number of
days you would like to be reminded to update.
What should I do if my player window is
outside of the player:
- You need to change the font size on
your desktop.
- Right click on your desktop, select
Properties.
- Go into your Settings tab and click
Advanced.
- In the General tab change your font
size to Small Fonts.
- You will then need to restart your
computer.
Having problems with a clicking sound
when the banner changes? You can disable that as follows:
- Click the Windows START button, point
to Settings, and then
click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Sounds (or Sounds and
Multimedia) icon.
- In the Windows Explorer area of the
Sound Events list, click the Start Navigation event.
- In the Name list, click (None).
- Select OK.
I am a Netscape user and I cannot
download the player:
- You need to download the SurferNETWORK
Player by using Microsoft's Internet Explorer. (Why? Because the Player
makes use of some parts of the Internet Explorer.)
- Start the Internet Explorer Browser.
- Go to your favorite radio stations web
site and click the
"Listen Live" link.
I do NOT have Internet Explorer:
- You need Internet Explorer on your PC
but you DO NOT need to stop using Netscape.
- CLICK HERE and follow the steps to
download and install IE.
- At the step that asks you if you want
Internet Explorer to be
your default browser, answer "No" if you want Netscape to
continue as the browser you use for web surfing.
- Once the Internet Explorer installation
is completed, reboot
your computer. You can now use Internet Explorer to download and install
the SurferNETWORK player. (Note: while you may choose not to use IE, do
not remove it because the SurferNETWORK player does use it).
